No modest bud, no softened plea,
She crowned herself audacity.
Her petals flared in scandal’s hue,
A kiss of blood, a scream of dew.

She didn’t beg to be composed
She came undone. She over-rose.
Each stripe a wound, each fold a flare,
She wore the sun like stolen prayer.

The garden flinched. The shadows stared.
The leaves grew quiet, cause none had dared
To stretch so bold from dappled bed
But she? She burned the green to red.

And what is grace if not defiance?
Beauty raw, and not in silence?
What is bloom if not a fight
To dare, to blush, to bite the light?

This all may sound bleak, but to go back with an eerie and persistent hum from the heavens, 13.8 billion years back to the beginning of time, to articulate the retina-teasing movement of a single moment, the present-tense and less than one trillionth of a second after the Big Bang, how one moment transforms to become another, detectable now only as a faint, omnipresent hiss, the past is never dead; pinched, squeezed and dissected, it can even release the presence of a future.
