“Sprache” – reading by Liza

Before any human mouth opens, before we invent grammar or poetry or podcasts, there is already a conversation happening: light hitting a bedroom wall in the morning, the smell of coffee in the kitchen, the rumble of a bus, the sound of footsteps in a school corridor. That is the first message.

And then Hesse goes a step further. He says: in the “Heiligtum der Welt” – in the inner sanctuary of the world – there lives an “unstillbarer Drang”. A restless urge. Something in existence itself that wants to break the silence of things
